The private apartement of Mademoiselle Chanel

“Second floor”, the exhibition at the Saatchi gallery.

This weekend I went at the Saatchi gallery, near Gloucester Road station enjoying the last exhibition about Gabrielle Chanel at the second floor of the gallery (logical).

This one was made by Sam Taylor-Johnson and features a series of 34 photographs capturing the private rooms of Mademoiselle Chanel.

The atmosphere is really particular, dark but also luxurious and original. It reflects all of the mystery of Chanel and her strong personality.

“The apartment is beautifully stylish. It feels like she had meticulously chosen every object, “says Sam Taylor-Johnson (source: Saatchi Gallery).

The exhibition also shows a video, It’s an interview of her in French at the end of her career. This video was really interesting and also funny, thanks to her strong personality.

When the journalist asked her “Why are your working?” Seated in her private apartement 31 rue Cambon, she replied: “Because I am afraid to get bored!” I loved it! I liked this aspect of her personality.

In this video, she also explains that fragrance is the most important thing for a woman. (That’s true, when I am wearing my favourite perfume, I am not feeling the same.)

You can still see the free exhibition “Second floor”, the private apartement of Mademoiselle Chanel at Saatchi Gallery until the 4th of Ocotber.
